At Paradis International College we are constantly concerned with the integration of foreign languages into the daily activities of the school, so that our students not only assimilate knowledge at the highest level, but end up using it like a native speaker.
The benefits of such an approach extend to the academic and life performance of our students, as children educated in multilingual environments have a more durable working memory than those educated in only one language (for example, they perform better in reading or mental calculation), they can switch more quickly from one task to another (multitasking), they have cognitive flexibility, they have superior listening skills and develop a “musical” ear, learning another foreign language doubles their attention span and, not in last line, I understand the rules of the mother tongue better.
At Paradis International College we are constantly concerned with enriching the range of foreign languages that students can study, taking into account the suggestions of students and parents and the realities of contemporary society.
The teaching of English is carried out by specialist teachers, who use the methods and resources of Cambridge International and those of British schools.
Our students are exposed to English since preschool. Here, English language activities are carried out daily, in each group, under the guidance of the English teacher, and the children are constantly stimulated to use common, specific expressions to allow them to learn spontaneously.
At primary and secondary level, English is integrated in at least five hours and in at least three after-school lessons per week.
At the high school level on the Romanian curriculum, the natural sciences specialization is taught bilingually, Romanian and English.
English is used, apart from the hours strictly allocated to the study of this subject, in Science classes, with which we supplement the national curriculum at primary level, and in Science and Math classes, with which we supplement the national curriculum at secondary level.
Also, the Paradis curriculum includes several co-curricular activities and international projects in which our children acquire knowledge of English language, culture and civilization, so that they can easily adapt to any academic path they choose after completing their studies.
Paradis International College has been a Cambridge exam and preparation center for over ten years, organizing language exams for all levels, starting with primary school students taking the Young Learners exams (Pre-A1 Starters, A1 Movers, A2 Flyers), up to those of secondary school (A2 Key – KET, B1 Preliminary – PET, B2 First – FCE) and high school students taking the IELTS exam. These exams are internationally recognized and help students succeed both at prestigious universities and in international projects.
The certificates obtained after these exams can be used for the equivalence of language proficiency tests, as follows:
- Equivalence of the language proficiency test for admission to the 5th grade with an intensive program (minimum required level: A1 according to the CEFR grid);
- Admission to state and professional high school education with a bilingual and intensive program (minimum required level: A2 according to the CEFR grid);
- Baccalaureate (minimum required level: B1 according to the CEFR grid);
Our students achieve very good results in the Cambridge English Language Assessment exams every year.
Results of the above exams:
First Certificate in English (FCE): 50% din elevi au obținut C1 și 50% B2
Preliminary English Test (PET)
Key English Test (KET): toți elevii au obținut nivelul B1, iar 30% dintre aceștia au obținut punctajul maxim posibil
Young Learners Flyers (YLE Flyers)
Young Learners Movers (YLE Movers)
Young Learners Starters (YLE Starters)
The German language is studied at primary and secondary level for two hours a week and in at least two after-school lessons.
The Paradis curriculum includes several co-curricular activities and international projects in which children acquire knowledge of German language, culture and civilization.
Our teachers prepare students for the Zertifikat Deutsch exams and we are proud of their results:
The Spanish language can be chosen as a subject of study at the high school level, both on the Romanian line and on the Cambridge line.
